![]() ![]() ![]() Similarly, things like distributing birthday toffees to friends, skipping classes, the beautiful ‘free-period’ art classes, the steel lunch-boxes, and the ‘god promises’ to stay friends forever - all these things make our 90s student life 100 times better and give us memories to cherish for a lifetime. So many of us carefully ate through our lunchboxes with poker faces while the teacher was busy teaching algebra, all so we could use the precious recess to run around the school grounds. We have all done this, especially the backbenchers. Eating lunch in class and playing during recess ![]() Sitting felt like standing because often, that is how congested it got! And the school bags weighing more than the students themselves only added to the school van calamity. We used to feel like squeezed lemons about to break the car door and fall on the road any time. The school bus/van catastropheĪre you Team School Van? Oh, dear. Nails not cut? Stay back in the school ground in the scorching heat. They were equally boring, demanding and included punishment as well when we did something wrong. Skipping the school assemblyĪfter maths, the school assembly was the worst. That precious time was used to conduct important ‘meetings’ where we would decide who would propose to their crush that week and we remember the unique ‘adda’ zones fondly. We longed for those days when we would go out for tuitions and never make to one and all for the best reasons! When the stroll to the tuition became a no-tuition-today strollĮvery 90s kid in India must have taken this stroll of joy. Needless to say, they were hardly ever seen again! 5. And the scary part was protecting the protector in the geometry box since people frequently misplaced their own instruments and 'borrowed' from others. Kids today will never understand the struggle of having to hit a button 3 times just to get one letter. Legend said that the blue part could erase ink. So many of us hated maths but loved that instrument box more than anything else in our school bag. So, from time to time it’s pleasant to recall the things that created the magic of our ’90s childhood. The 90s kid school-life edition will be incomplete without the mention of the precious geometry box that consisted of a compass, protector, divider and set-square. We cherish those funny drawings from our classmates at the back of our notebooks and chits passed behind the teacher’s back. Overall, they were our sweethearts and that bond is still so strong that most of us can still do anything for them. ![]()
